The **Endoscopy Unit** at Sethsevana Hospital is equipped with **advanced fiber optic and video technology** to perform Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy, Bronchoscopy, Cystoscopy, and related therapeutic endoscopic procedures.

This diagnostic test allows for a **detailed examination of internal organs** using a lighted optical tube inserted through a natural body opening.

What to Expect During the Procedure

• A **small tube with a camera** is inserted through the mouth, passing through the esophagus to examine the stomach.
• A **local anesthetic spray** is applied to the throat to reduce discomfort, making tube insertion easier. The numbing effect lasts for a short period after the procedure.
• Patients are advised to **breathe calmly through the nose** and relax their body for a smooth examination process.

Preparation for the Endoscopy

• The night before the examination, **have a light meal** and remain **fasting from 8:00 AM** until the test is completed.
• **Avoid tea, milk, coffee, and other beverages.** Only water is allowed if necessary.
• Remove **artificial dentures, eyeglasses, and bandages** before the procedure.
• Wear **comfortable and loose clothing** to ensure ease during the examination.
