Digital X-Ray

Digital X-Ray

Digital X-Rays are a type of medical imaging used to examine the inside of the body. X-rays pass through the body, with a detector capturing the radiation that passes through and transforming it into a detailed image. This technology is commonly used to assess bones, joints, and soft tissues, as well as the lungs and other areas of the body.

What is it used for?

X-rays can detect a wide range of conditions in different parts of the body. Most commonly, they are used to examine bones and joints, detect fractures, diagnose lung conditions, and identify any abnormalities within soft tissues.

What to expect during an X-Ray exam?

During an X-ray exam, you will be positioned in front of a detector while an X-ray machine sends radiation through your body. The parts where the X-rays don’t pass through easily, like bone, will appear white on the image. The areas that allow X-rays to pass through, like soft tissues, will appear black. The exam will be conducted by experienced radiographers, ensuring your comfort and safety throughout the procedure.

How do I prepare for my X-ray?

In most cases, there is no special preparation needed for an X-ray. However, it is advisable to wear loose clothing and avoid wearing jewelry or clothing with metal zips or details, as they may interfere with the imaging process.

How safe is it?

While X-rays involve exposure to a small amount of radiation, the level used in medical imaging is low and generally considered safe. The risks associated with radiation exposure are minimal. However, if you are pregnant, it is important to inform the staff before the procedure, as pregnant women should avoid X-rays unless absolutely necessary. If you are pregnant and your doctor recommends an X-ray, please notify the staff immediately.
